1769 - Народився український письменник Іван Котляревський - батько нової української літератури, автор «Енеїди», «Наталки Полтавки» й «Москаля чарівника».

1863 - Народився український письменник Борис Грінченко.

1982 - У Львові створено Ініціятивну групу захисту прав віруючих і Церкви в Україні. Голова - Йосип Тереля.

1873 - Остап Вересай – найвідоміший кобзар ХІХ століття - виступив на позачерговому засіданні Південно-Західного відділу Російського географічного товариства. Роки життя (1809-1890).

1883 - Народився Дмитро Донцов - публіцист, політичний діяч, літературний критик, ідеолог українського націоналізму. Пом. 30.02.1973.

1903 - Відкрито пам’ятник Іванові Котляревському в Полтаві.

1919 - Договір у Сан Жермен коло Парижу.

1894 - Народився Олександер Довженко - видатний український кінодраматург, режисер і письменник.

1910 - Помер Василь Доманицький - український літературонавець і фольклорист.
